Haiti Workshop? Photojournalism Today?

do we need bloody smashed bodies to understand what is a earthquake?
do we need burning bodies to understand what is a earthquake?
what do we want to achieve with these bloody images?

Nicola Boccaccini say at Lightstalkers:

Lightstalkers: zoriahs-haiti-workshop-ideas-and-direction

“”"Ethics? I don’t see ethics in photojournalism nowadays, …generally I see only competition in a new type of commercial photography.
…and workshops, in a world overflowed by images are only a simple solution for photographers to make money in other way.
No more sentimental or personal approach in photography, nor the joy to teach something to new generations!
It is very sad but, in my point of view, this is reality.
MONEY vs ETHICS?
MONEY ALWAYS WIN!”"”

  1. You are right.

But what do you want to change?

    - the media wants these pictures. Disgusting but can you change it?
    - and every media wants some different pictures, fast. So you see different photographers.
    - the people who administer money need these pictures obviously, too. Disgusting.

A photojournalist gest worse and worse paid, so the quality gets worse.
If he does his job has somehow to earn money. So he delivers what is asked for.
If the good photographers with brain refuse, well, the you get the bad ones. The ones with no brain.

    Who asks for the pictures/offer?
Who is behind the scene and publishes in a ever faster rate cruelty and murder, blood and aggression? In every aspect of media. Games, TV, video, films, too.
Who accustoms violence and blood to us?

I know for myself but wont write here. Then you all think I am totally crazy ;)
